Researching Careers in our area (LMI)

Home >

As a student at AWS, you are entitled to learn about jobs and opportunities in our area. This is called Labour Market Information (LMI).

Below you will see a link to D2N2. This is our Local Enterprise Partnership, here in Derby and more widely into Nottingham. D2N2 are working along Start Profile (which is already familiar to lots of students at AWS) to provide a detailed overview of job sectors within our region. This means that you can learn about industries that play a vital role in our local economy.

Also on this page, you can research a huge range of careers, using the Careerometre tool below. As you search for different careers, you can find out about salaries - but importantly, also look out for careers that show projected growth (shown in green). In these industries, there is expected to be an increase in jobs available over the next 5 years - and you could be part of that growth!

Remember, as part of your Careers curriculum, you will have regular opportunities to engage with local employers and to develop your employability skills. Be sure to use the AWS Careers Education homepage, as it is full of information for students, parents/carers and ‘Next Steps’ links, for post-GCSE study.

Our Careers Lead at AWS is Ms C. McEntee.

Contact can be made via the Online Contact Form linked here.
