We are seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our Enhanced Learning Team from Easter or sooner if available.

Allestree Woodlands School is a popular and successful 11-18 school, providing high quality education for 1350 students (200+ in the sixth form). The school is situated on the northern edge of the city of Derby in a very pleasant setting overlooking the Kedleston Hall National Trust estate. We work as a great team together and are committed to the continuing professional development of all colleagues.

The successful candidate will join our committed and collaborative Enhanced Learning Team in supporting SEND students across a variety of curriculum areas. The school takes pride in being inclusive as recognised by Ofsted in our recent inspection. Our team is led by an Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion who is our SENCo, and two Deputy SENCos, one of whom leads on the ERF provision for deaf students.

The Enhanced Learning Faculty is successful in assisting students with a range of educational needs throughout school. We aim to meet the needs of students with general learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, deafness, visual impairment and social, emotional and mental health needs.

We are looking for an experienced and committed professional who can lead targeted group intervention’s as well as providing high quality in class support for students with a range of needs. The HLTA will develop and implement bespoke support for students across key stage 3 and 4 to enable students to access the curriculum and achieve well.

Expertise in one of the following areas is highly desirable:

• reading/literacy support

• maths/numeracy support

• autism support

• social, emotional and mental health needs

The opportunity to train in managing exam access arrangements may be available to a suitable qualified candidate.

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant position is full time in term time. 37 hours per week for 40 weeks per year, to include some support work during holiday periods by agreement. NJC Pay Scale 6 points 18 – 22 £27,344 - £29,439 (pro rata to days and hours worked £23,978 - £25,815 per year).
