COMMUNICATION SUPPORT WORKER/BSL SIGNER
Full time or part time considered (3 days minimum to include Thursday & Friday)

Allestree Woodlands School is looking to appoint a communication support worker to join a team supporting deaf students across a variety of curriculum areas. Our school takes pride in being inclusive and this was recognised in our recent Ofsted inspection. Our Inclusion team is led by an Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion who is our SENCo, with a Deputy SENCo leads on the ERF provision for deaf students.
This post requires a person who understands the needs of deaf students who may have other needs in addition within a secondary school setting. The ability to establish good working relationships with the students and a large number of staff is essential. Previous experience of working with deaf and SEND students is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of BSL is essential.
The successful applicant will be well supported and have opportunities for continued professional development.
The full-time position is full working 32.5 hours week for 39 weeks per year; part-time hours can be considered (3 days minimum to include Thursday and Friday).
NJC Scale 4/5 points 7-17 £22,369 - £26,845 depending on qualifications and experience. Pro rata to weeks and hours worked £16,582 - £20,224 per year. There is also the opportunity for overtime pay to support extracurricular activities.
