Teacher of Religious Education (full time or 0.8 fte)

Allestree Woodlands School is an extremely successful, oversubscribed 11-18 school, providing high quality education for 1355 students (246 Post-16). The school is situated on the northern edge of Derby City overlooking ‘Green Belt’ areas.

The Religious Education curriculum area is part of the Humanities Faculty. The Faculty consists of Geography, History and Religious Education at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, with Government and Politics, Psychology and Sociology being offered at Key Stage 5.

We are looking for a very talented, dynamic and ambitious teacher of Religious Education who is inspiring, innovative and able to consistently set high standards of teaching and learning. The successful applicant will join a very committed, collaborative, forward thinking and highly successful team housed within its own Humanities Area. The Humanities is hugely popular with the school’s students and as a result, any successful candidate may be asked to contribute to the teaching of another Humanities subject at Key Stage 3. In addition the school offers a very personal and professionally supportive environment.

Part-time Teacher of Chemistry 0.6 fte - September 2019 start

Allestree Woodlands School is an extremely successful, oversubscribed 11-18 school, providing high quality education for 1355 students (246 Post-16). The site has just undergone major development so all of the facilities are new and this includes nine fully equipped laboratories. The school is situated on the northern edge of Derby City overlooking ‘greenbelt’ areas and is easily accessible. The Faculty consists of General Science at Key Stage 3, Combined Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at Key Stages 4 (AQA) and Biology (OCR A), Environmental Science (AQA), Chemistry (AQA) and Physics (AQA) being extremely popular at Key Stage 5. The science department is a high attaining faculty and the school has seen consistent and increasingly impressive progress in this area. A significant number of our A-level students go on to follow medicine or science related degrees at top universities including Oxford and Cambridge.

We are looking for a  talented, dynamic and ambitious, part-time Chemistry Teacher for a 0.6 permanent contract for a September 2019 start. 

The successful applicant should be innovative, able to inspire students from a variety of backgrounds, set high standards of teaching and learning and be willing to continue in their professional development. Full Time Lead Teacher of Physics - September 2019 start

At Allestree Woodlands we strive to encourage pupils to achieve their full potential by developing their skills through scientific enquiry and practical tasks; recognising the usefulness and limitations of scientific methods in their everyday lives. We encourage students to explore science, its coverage in the media and how to analyse and evaluate sources presented to them.

The department moved into a new building with nine full laboratories in October 2015 which enables us to give students excellent practical opportunities as well as presenting staff with a very comfortable working environment.

We are looking for a qualified teacher who is a talented, dynamic and ambitious to join our team as subject lead for Physics from September 2019. Full Time Teacher of English - September 2019 start

Allestree Woodlands School is an extremely successful, oversubscribed 11-18 school, providing high quality education for 1341 students (240 Post-16). The school is situated on the northern edge of Derby City.

This post offers the opportunity to become part of an extremely successful team of highly motivated and enthusiastic English teachers. The successful candidate may be expected to teach both English Language and English Literature to A level. We are looking forward to appointing a dedicated, well-qualified English teacher who can make a positive contribution to the Department as we face the exciting challenge of significant curriculum changes at GCSE and A Level.

 There is a high level of uptake of English at A level. Every other student in the Sixth Form takes an English course. Currently, we have two large English Language and two large English Literature groups at AS and two Language and Literature groups at A2. In 2018, we achieved 100% pass rates in both Language and Literature. 62% of Language students achieved A to C grades whilst in Literature 57% achieved A to C grades.

This position is suitable for both experienced and newly qualified teachers.

Deputy Director of Design and Technology - September 2019 start

We hold the Investor in People Award and are committed to the continuing professional development of all colleagues. The Design and Technology Curriculum faculty also comprises  Computing and Business Studies. 

We are looking for a talented, dynamic teacher who is able to inspire, motivate and set high standards of teaching and learning. The successful applicant will support the School Director in leading a very successful, committed, collaborative, forward thinking team. 

The school offers a very personal and professionally supportive environment. The post will focus mainly on the teaching of KS3 to KS5 Design and technology. It is expected that the successful candidate will actively encourage our pupils to study the subjects at Post 16.
