Welcome to Woodlands School Parents, Friends, Teachers Association

We are an enthusiastic group of volunteer parents, carers, teachers and friends who support Woodlands School by:

  • Raising money for additional items for the school
  • Organising social events to bring together everyone connected to the school
  • Providing a sounding board for draft school policies and procedures

All parents and staff are automatic members of the association, but anyone connected to the school can join the PFTA.

The committee meets regularly to discuss future events and consider any funding bids which have been forwarded from the school.

Come to our regular meetings (usually about six a year held during term time) to help plan our events and/or

be added to our list of helpers who volunteer at events.

We aim to keep meetings short and purposeful and helping at events enjoyable!

The PFTA Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting, which take place each October.

Fund raising

Recent events have included:

Christmas Fairs, including performances by our local primary schools as well as our own choirs and music groups, concerts by Hot House and Quizzes.

The PFTA also helps at the school’s Music and Drama evenings, as well as at the School Carol Service.

The PFTA also runs a 50/50 Club which is a lottery draw with three cash winners each month.  You can have any amount of numbers between 1 and 10 at a cost of £1 per number per month. Half of the money collected is paid into school funds, the other half is given out as prizes.  The prize money is split 1st Prize 70%, 2nd Prize 20% and 3rd prize 10%.  Typically, 1st prize is in excess of £100.  The winnings are paid by cheque and delivered/posted out.  The club operates under a gaming License from the Local Authority and is the second biggest fund raiser after the Christmas Fayre.  Our preferred method of payment is by monthly standing order, but you may also pay annually by cheque or standing order.  One number per year would cost you just £12.  If you would like to become a member of the 50/50 Club, you can print the registration form and standing order form via the links below:

Completed forms should be sent to the address provided on the Registration form.  For standing order payments, the set-up form will be forwarded to your bank by the 50/50 Club.

Our annual income is around £4,000 which comes from the events listed.

In recent times we have supported purchase of the following:

  • Prizes for Celebration Day (May each year)
  • Trophy Cabinet
  • Planting in the pond area
  • Video cameras for use within different subject areas
  • Digital pianos for the Music Department
  • Curtains and blinds for the 6th Form Centre
  • Tressel masks for use in Drama
  • Steel drums for use within Music lessons
  • Drug awareness kits for use within PSCHE lessons

Please join us at one of our events - we shall be very pleased to see you!
In order to continue to provide these funds we need new teachers, parents, carers and friends to become actively involved in supporting the Woodlands School PFTA and its fund raising ideas and activities. So please come along to our events or attend our next meeting.
