Design Technology

 

Introduction

Woodlands Community School was delighted to become a Specialist Technology College in September 2004.

As a Technology college we are using our specialist status to raise standards of achievement and the quality of learning in design and technology. science, and mathematics for all our students across the ability range. These departments are also contributing to whole school improvements by developing innovative approaches to teaching and learning. We are developing and sharing good practice across the curriculum particularly between the specialist subjects.
We are active partners with our feeder primary schools, The Royal School for the Deaf and St Benedicts School in our learning society, offering opportunities for enriching and extending learning experiences. We are sharing resources and good practice.

We promote an educational culture which is scientific, technological, enterprising and vocational. We aim to raise the post-16 participation rate in the specialist subject areas, and provide young people with the skills needed to progress into employment, further training and higher education according to their individual abilities, aptitudes and ambitions.
